Preparing the Carpet and Subfloor

Before applying seaming tape for carpet, it is essential to ensure that both the carpet edges and the subfloor are clean and dry. Dust, debris, or moisture can hinder adhesion, leading to poor results. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dirt from the seams and make sure the subfloor is free of any loose materials.

Next, trim the carpet edges carefully to create a straight, clean line. A straight edge ensures a tight seam and enhances the overall appearance of the installation. Utilize a sharp utility knife and a straightedge for precision when cutting.

Applying the Seaming Tape

Type Seam joining tape double sided
Material Crepe Standard Paper with Fiberglass
Width 100 mm scale wide
Length Roll length: 20 meters
Adhesive 11 beads of strong adhesive
Feature Iron-free and heatless setup

Once the carpet is prepared, position the seaming tape underneath the carpet edges. The adhesive side of the tape should face up, and it should extend slightly beyond the carpet edges to ensure full coverage. Make sure to align the carpet edges accurately to avoid gaps that could compromise the seam.

After placing the tape, use a seam roller to press the carpet down over the tape. This rolling action helps activate the adhesive and ensures a strong bond between the carpet and the tape. Apply even pressure while rolling to eliminate air bubbles and ensure a smooth finish.

Finalizing the Seam

After securing the carpet with the seaming tape, it’s time to finalize the seam. Allow the adhesive to cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions, which typically requires a few hours. During this time, avoid walking on the seam to allow for optimal adhesion.

Once the adhesive has cured, inspect the seam for any irregularities. If necessary, trim any excess carpet and ensure that the seam lies flat. This attention to detail will enhance the durability and aesthetic appeal of your carpet installation.
